Well... I have allowed life to take me offtrack for the past week or so. How? A crunch period at work coupled with 2 sick kids and husband, a birthday party for the 3rd kid, and an out of town visiting relative stranded at my house with a broken down car. If I wrote that for my imaginary sitcom, no one would think it was believable.
Sadly, I've been drinking Pepsi. Happily, I've also been drinking water. I'm extremely happy to report that my weight is in the same range (225-230). I'm refocusing today. Need to make a grocery store run to get some fruit and veggies.

Friday Reflections
I weighed in this morning. 225. I think it moves between 225 and 230 rather than the 230- 235 from when I started two weeks ago. I think it's safe to say I've lost 5. Not bad considering I haven't done anything really deliberate or difficult.
- a little portion control, but not as many salads in week 2.
- I have been taking strolls in the evenings with my kids (and sometimes the husband joins!!) I stopped walking daily when baby#2 was born and I really missed those walks.
- I read somewhere that by replacing a daily 20oz soda with water for a year would result in a 50# loss. Truthfully, that's probably the cause of my weight gain. I don't eat that much food- and I eat really good stuff. I just drink really bad stuff. (I drink sugary stuff, but not much alcohol.) I can easily drink more calories than I eat. This is probably where I should concentrate overall to maintain my weight and HEALTH.
For now though, I'm a little impatient. I'm going to try a short term cleansing "diet."
- 3 to 4 meals a day.
- 2 raw fruits or veggies and a 100 cal portion of protein before each meal.
- 0- 300 calorie meal, depending on hunger.
- 70 oz. of cold water daily
- Exercise 3-4x per week.
I'll try to do this for the month of May. I hope to hit get 205-210 by the time I'm through.

How?
I know what I want to do, but "how" is the open ended question. I started eating more salads last week. I think if I manage to stay away from sodas, up my water intake and walk at least a mile a day, it will get me off to a good start.

Nothing to It...
"Nothing to it, but to do it." I sometimes tell my oldest child (5) that when she's discouraged and talking herself out of something important. I'm now turning my focus inward. I turned 40 a few weeks back and am still carrying pregnancy (and post-partum/ maternity leave) weight from babies #2 and #3, who are 3 and 18 months, respectively. I really do feel like it's now or never. I'm starting to feel fat, like I don't even want to try to shop or go out, and I have never felt that way before now.
My major goal right now is a 50 pound loss.
This blog is a reminder to myself to keep at it. I hope also that it help someone else who might be going through the same thing.
